Black Feast Troma Namgo

Pre-dawn Black Feast

Listening to the Black Feast is a practice through sound that helps purify obscurations, cut through ego-clinging, and awaken fearless wisdom, even without directly performing the ritual.

Cutting ego-clinging and subtle attachment
The “Black Feast” symbolizes offering one’s entire body and mind—delusions, grasping, and fears. The sound of the chanting directly supports the severing of ego-clinging.

Purification of karmic obscurations
Through the blessing power of Dakini Troma Nagmo (the Wrathful Black Mother), karmic forces and both coarse and subtle obscurations are purified, even when one listens with sincere devotion.

Transforming fear into wisdom
The sounds of mantra and Chöd ritual transform fear, anger, and anxiety into mindfulness, fearlessness, and Prajñā (transcendent wisdom).

Receiving blessings through sound
In Vajrayana, sound itself is a path to awakening. Listening to the chanting plants seeds of liberation in the mindstream.

Benefits for both visible and invisible beings
Listening brings benefit not only to living beings but also to invisible beings, creating harmony and positive karmic connections.

Connection to the Chöd lineage
Listening is a way to establish a karmic connection with the Chöd lineage, the Dakinis, and the Dharma Protectors, nurturing one’s path of practice.
