5-pronged bell

The five-pronged bell and vajra are important ritual objects  in Tibetan Tantric Buddhism (Vajrayana). This pair of ritual objects symbolizes Wisdom (bell) and Skillful Means/Great Compassion (vajra) .

The five prongs symbolize the Five Wisdoms of the Buddha:

1. Great Mirror Wisdom – Akshobhya

2. Equality of Mind – Preservation of Life (Ratnasambhava)

3. Wonderful Observation Wisdom – Amitabha

4. The Accomplishment of the Unfailing Path – The Attainment of Non-Achievement (Amoghasiddhi)

5. The Dharma Realm of the Nature of Wisdom – Vairocana (the central jaw)
