📿 Vajra & Bell Mala Counter – Precision for Mantra Practice
This black wire mala counter is a traditional Vajrayana counting tool,
designed to support accurate mantra recitation during meditation and ritual practice.
Clipped onto a 108-bead mala, it allows practitioners to track large numbers of recitations with ease and clarity.
🕉️ Symbolic Meaning
This counter is not only functional,
but deeply symbolic within Tantric Buddhism:
• Vajra (Dorje) → strength, indestructibility, skillful means (Upāya)
• Bell (Ghanta) → wisdom (Prajñā), emptiness
👉 Together, they represent the inseparable union of wisdom and method,
the foundation of all Vajrayana practice.
🔢 How to Use
Attach the counter to your mala as follows:
• Vajra hook (right side of the guru bead)
→ Used to count tens (10, 20, 30…)
• Bell hook (left side of the guru bead)
→ Used to count units (1–10 small beads)
Counting Method:
• Move the small beads on the bell side to count each round
• When 10 small beads are completed → equals 1,080 recitations
• Move 1 bead on the vajra side to mark each set of 1,080
👉 Example:
10 × 1,080 = 10,800 recitations
